Election Day Closure
The University of the West Indies, Mona will close at 12:30 pm on Monday, September 3 in order to allow employees the statutory time off to vote in the General Elections.
In order to facilitate students from rural Jamaica who wish to return home to vote, all classes scheduled for September 3 will be cancelled. Teaching for Semester 1 will therefore begin on Tuesday, September 4.
Please note that activities other than teaching will continue in the normal way on September 3 until the general closure of the campus at 12: 30 pm.
Online Registration and Fee Payment Deadlines
The 2007/8 academic year for the University of the West Indies, Mona officially began on August 26. UWI, Mona wishes to advise that normal registration takes place from August 27 to August 31. Registration without penalty is allowed up to September 1 and late registration will apply from September 3-7 and attract a late fee of J$1000. After September 7, Extraordinary requests for late registration will be allowed with a charge of J$1000 in addition to 1% of the outstanding amount. Students may register online for their courses by logging on to: http://sas.uwimona.edu.jm:9010.
The final day for fee payment in full is due on September 30 after which students will be sent on Compulsory Leave of Absence. Payments can be made online using the UWI Mona E Commerce facility at http://www.mona.uwi.edu/studinfo/fees, Paymaster, Bill Express, UWI Bursary Cashier, UWI (Mona) & Community Co-op Credit Union Ltd and National Commercial Bank (NCB) island-wide.
