7th William Dennis Memorial Lecture
The 7th William Dennis Memorial Lecture takes place June 19, 2008 at 5 pm at the Main Medical Lecture Theatre located at the University Hospital of the West Indies. Professor Henri Ford, Vice President and Chief of Surgery at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles, will deliver the lecture. Professor Ford’s lecture is titled “Necrotizing Enterocolitis: New Insights into Pathogenesis.”
Professor Ford is a specialist on paediatric trauma, has conducted definitive studies on paediatric trauma in the United States, and has been involved in ground-breaking work on the pathogenesis and treatment of necrotizing enterocolitis.
The programme also features a review of the life and work of William Dennis, which will be done by Professor Barrie Hanchard, Professor of Pathology. There will also be a lecture on “The special challenges of treating preterm neonates at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI)” delivered by Dr. Helen Trotman and “A review of necrotizing enterocolitis at the UHWI” by Professor Newton Duncan.
