International Reggae Day Reggae Symposium at UWI, Mona

The Reggae Studies Unit, The University of the West Indies, Mona hosts an International Reggae Day Reggae Symposium, at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 6 pm. The Symposium is titled, “Celebrating 40 years of Reggae Music: Mapping the Evolution of the Genre since its Inception”.

The symposium is designed to celebrate one of Jamaica’s greatest cultural legacies and stimulate thought and discussion on the origins of Reggae music and its evolution through the decades up to its present time.

The panelists include Herbie Miller, Dennis Howard, Julian (Jingles) Reynolds and Rocky Gibbs (Joe Gibbs' oldest Son). They will each speak to the evolution and development of Reggae Music since its inception in 1968.

The public is invited to attend.
