The Department of Medicine at The University of the West Indies, Mona in celebration of the University’s 60th anniversary hosts the Professor Eric Cruickshank Memorial Lecture. The lecture takes place on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 5 pm at the Main Lecture Theatre located at the University Hospital of the West Indies. Sir George Allyene, Chancellor of The University of the West Indies will deliver the lecture entitled “Extending the Art of Medicine”.

Professor Eric Cruickshank was the first head of department in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the then University College of the West Indies and later became Dean of the Faculty. He was also instrumental in the formation of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, which was formed out of the Department of Medicine.
