Event Planning and Management Course at UWI, Mona
The Reggae Studies Unit and the Institute for Hospitality and Tourism at the University of the West Indies (UWI) , Mona present a two-day seminar in Event Planning and Management from July 11-12, 2008 from 9am to 3:30 pm daily at the Multifunctional Room of the Main Library, UWI, Mona. The course is being taught by Samuel McCook, veteran events planner whose experience spans several projects including: the Jamaica Classic Golf Tournament, The Johnnie Walker World Championship of Golf, Sinbad Soul Music Festival, the inaugural Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, Reggae SunSplash, Reggae Sumfest, Negril Sprint Triathlon, Caribbean Sports and special events conference and trade events such as Japex. The cost is J $15,000.
The course covers topics including development, implementation and controlling of strategic goals and objectives, coordination of functions, event management production, dealing with contracts for service and intellectual property rights implications.
