Renaming of Advanced Training and Research in Fertility Management Unit
The Advanced Training and Research in Fertility Management Unit of the University of the West Indies, Mona will be renamed in honour of Professor Hugh Wynter, first director of the Unit, on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 3 pm. The building will be renamed the Hugh Wynter Fertility Management Unit.
The Unit is being renamed to honour the outstanding contribution of Professor Wynter who was instrumental in the establishment and development of the Unit until his retirement. The event also forms a part of the University’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
The Advanced Training and Research in Fertility Management Unit was established in 1978 through the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Corporation and Development in the Federal Republic of Germany and United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA). It seeks to provide, promote, develop and deliver training, research, outreach and clinical services in the areas of Reproductive Health and Health and Family Life Education throughout the Caribbean region. It also provides a Master of Science in Counseling via distance education and offers a number of workshops throughout the region.
