Racial Discrimination in the African Diaspora

“Linguistic Profiling and Racial Discrimination in the African Diaspora” is the title of the presentation being delivered by Professor John Baugh, Washington University in St. Louis, USA and well-known African-American linguist and education expert. The presentation takes place on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 6pm at the Aubrey Fraser Lecture Theatre, Norman Manley Law School, UWI, Mona.

Professor Baugh’s presentation explores current studies of voice discrimination, with primary focus on the U.S. and South Africa, but with clear relevance to other regions of the African Diaspora.

The presentation is organized hosted by the Jamaica Language Unit, UWI, Mona.

The university community and the public are invited.
