Celebrating the Creativity of UWI Staff and Students

An exhibition featuring the works of staff and students of The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona is now on at the Administrative Annex to the Senate Building. The exhibition is the third in the series mounted by the UWI 60 Mona Planning Committee and will run to the end of October 2008.

“Celebrating the Creativity of UWI Staff and Students” features a display of paintings, photographs and three-dimensional objects which are mounted in the foyer of the new Administrative Annex. Among the persons whose works are on display are Professor Ian Boxill, Dr. Clinton Hutton, Professor Bob Lancashire, Dr. Patsy Lewis, Dr. Earl McKenzie, Donnie Miller, and members of the UWI Camera Club.

The exhibition was opened on Thursday, September 25, 2008 by Professor Emeritus and Director of the Centre for Public Safety and Justice, Barry Chevannes, who emphasized the power of the human imagination. He suggested the introduction of a “Day of the Arts” so that persons could experience and share in the wealth of creative talent which exists at Mona and urged members of the community to cultivate and promote their own creativity as a means of enriching and unleashing the spirit of the wider society.

Members of the University community are invited to attend.
