"The Current US Financial Sector Crisis: Implications for the Jamaican Economy"
The Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies, Mona hosts a panel discussion titled "The Current US Financial Sector Crisis: Implications for the Jamaican economy." The panel discussion is scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 6 pm at the Aubrey Fraser Lecture Theatre, UWI, Mona.
The panellists are: Dr. Omar Davies, Opposition spokesperson on Finance, Dr. Adrian Stokes, Senior Investment Manager, Jamaica Money Market Brokers, Ralston Hyman, Financial Analyst/ Editor and Colin Bullock, Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics, UWI, Mona and former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica.
The event is timely as it explores the issues surrounding the financial crisis in the United States namely the magnitude and causes of the crisis while analysing the extent of the impact on the Jamaican economy. It also seeks to address the possible need for measures to be considered by the government and private sector in anticipation of the impact.
The university community and the public are invited.
