The University of the West Indies hosts the Distinguished Professorial Guest Lecture titled “Global Update: HIV/AIDS in Pregnant Women and in Children”. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Sten H. Vermund, Amos Christie Chair in Global Health, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, USA on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 5 pm at the Main Medical Theatre, located at the University Hospital of the West Indies, Mona.

The occasion will also see the launch of the book “Pediatric and Perinatal HIV/AIDS in Jamaica”, Special Issue, “West Indian Medical Journal”, 2008; 57(3):187-320. This issue features technical remarks by Professor Paul A. Krogstad, MD, Pediatrician, Scientist and Infectious Diseases Specialist, UCLA, California.

CME credits will be awarded for physicians, CEU’s for nurses and CEC’s for pharmacists.
