Spanish Tutoring Programme
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures has initiated a pilot programme aimed at improving the level of Spanish of S11A students (first year Spanish students) with an entry level of CSEC 1 and 2 in Spanish, using peer tutors from the third year programme. This programme runs from October 6 to November 27, 2008.
The programme will allow for first year Spanish students to receive assistance from trained final year students who possess a high level of proficiency in the language for an hour each week. The tutoring sessions will also see final year students sharing study skills advice, time management techniques and methods of developing good academic practices. Peer tutors are given an outline of the S11A programme which contains the grammatical points being studied during the semester.
A book will be kept at the Language Lab for participating students and their peer tutors to sign. The programme will be closely monitored and will continue based on results, therefore students are encouraged to provide feedback on the programme.
Tutoring sessions are held on Wednesdays at 11 am, 2 pm and 3 pm and Thursdays at 12 noon.
