As a way of highlighting the significance of Jamaica’s culture and heritage The University of the West Indies, Mona hosts a series of activities in October, the month in which National Heroes’ Day is observed. The events are aimed at commemorating some of Jamaica’s significant historical events.  One such event is the second documentary screening taking place on Friday, October 24, 2008 at   6 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre, UWI, Mona. This week’s documentary is entitled “Miss Dynamite goes in Search of Nanny of the Maroons”. The documentary was made by Niomi Daley, the British hip-hop star better known as Ms Dynamite and depicts the struggle of the maroons.
