The Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Section of Physical Therapy has organized a public forum titled, “Understanding Your Pain” on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 5 pm at Physiology Lecture Theatre. The forum will feature presentations by medical doctors specializing in pain management, pharmacists and physical therapists among other specialists discussing pain management techniques, causes and solutions to pains including arthritis, cancer, back and neck pains.  

The Department is also offering a course in Comprehensive Pain Management, Module One, Understanding Pain Mechanism and Assessment on November 29-30, 2008 starting at 8 am. This is a two-day course which reviews current pain mechanisms and assessment in the context of the World Health Framework. Outcome measures are presented with an emphasis on the ones that appears to work better in the Caribbean.
