At the recently held Long Service and Special 60th Anniversary Ceremony five members of the university community were awarded Meritorious Awards for their outstanding contribution to the institution. The recipients were: Mary Gray, Department of Literatures in English, Zellyne Jennings-Craig, Educational Studies, Paulette Williams, Library, Sandra Pusey, Secretariat, Office of the Campus Registrar and Leonna Bobb-Semple, Library.

The University also extends congratulations to Grace Jackson, Student Services Manager, Sports at UWI, Mona who has been re-elected as the first Vice President of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA).

The University also congratulates Grace Small, Pharmacist, at the UWI Health Centre who received fourth place for JADEP Prescriptions filled by a public sector pharmacist. She was recognized at the National Health Fund Provider Awards 2008 recently.

Congratulations are also extended to Athol Hamilton, Actg. Student Services Manager, Taylor Hall, UWI, Mona who has received the Thomas Wilson Trophy for the Most Outstanding Junior Cricket Umpire in Jamaica at the recent Jamaica Cricket Umpires Awards Dinner.
