“Perspectives in Caribbean Psychology”

The Caribbean Institute of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (CARIMENSA) in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of the West Indies, Mona will host the launch of the book “Perspectives in Caribbean Psychology” on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre.
The book is edited by Professor Frederick Hickling, Dr. Kai Morgan and Dr. Roger Gibson from the Department of Community Health and Psychiatry and Dr. Bridgette Mathies formerly of the University of the West Indies. "Perspectives in Caribbean Psychology" is a comprehensive compilation of writings that explore a variety of culturally relevant issues including culture and behaviour, development psychology, personality disorder, issues of violence, application of therapeutic models in the Caribbean, sports psychology, and psychological assessment and should be read in conjunction with CARIMENSA’s 2007 publication “Psychohistograhy: A Postcolonial Psychoanalytical and Psychotherapeutic Model” by Frederick Hickling.
