60th Anniversary Scholarships

Nine graduate students will be awarded scholarships on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 3 pm at the Council Room at the Award of the 60th Anniversary Mona Scholarships. Six scholarships are offered for the Mona Campus 60th Anniversary scholarship to mark the six decades of the University’s establishment. Five scholarships tenable for two years have so far been awarded to postgraduate research students whose programme of study have the potential to give credence to the anniversary them, “Caribbean Impact, Global Reach.” In addition two scholarships have been established to honour the late Professor George Sidrak for his over forty years of dedicated and excellent service to the UWI. The scholarship is available to postgraduate students conducting research in any aspect of plant science (Botany) at UWI, Mona. On its 50th anniversary the West Indian Group of Teachers (WIGUT) will mark the 60th anniversary of UWI with a gift of a scholarship valuing $600,000.
