The University of the West Indies, Mona, The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) and Children and Community for Change are partnering to host the UNI-T ‘Do’ Athlon Fun Run on Sunday, February 8, 2009. The event aims to enhance community spirit and encourage and engage the community into healthier lifestyles.

The action kicks off at 6:30 a.m. at UTech and ends on UWI, Mona Campus at the Mona Bowl. Both the 5 kilometre run/walk and the 10 kilometre cycle will accommodate competitive and recreational athletes. Participants will be able to win a variety of prizes including: book grants, small bursaries, trophies and certificates.

Proceeds from the event are contributed to the restoration of the Sir John Golding Centre’ rebuilding fund, the Cultural Studies Community Development Fund and the Children and Community for Change Spring Village community programme.  

Late registration closes on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 5 pm. Entry forms are available at the UWI and UTech Sports departments, Institute of Caribbean Studies, UWI Students’ Union, University Township Office at Bryce Hill Road and the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA). Registration forms maybe faxed or delivered by hand.

The university community, members of neighbouring communities, UWI and UTech alumni are specially invited to participate.
