Advancements in Medicine Conference
The third International Advancements in Medicine Conference takes place from February 23-28, 2009 under the theme, “Transforming Research into Policy and Practice”. The Conference is designed to provide a forum through which medical and healthcare professionals in Jamaica and those from other parts of the world can be engaged and share knowledge on current developments in medicine. It will also help identify and implement solutions that will lead to improvements in the healthcare delivery systems of Jamaica.
The conference will feature speakers from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, UWI, Mayo Clinic, Vanderbilt University, University of Minnesota, Baylor University, Emory University and the Ministry of Health and Environment in Jamaica.
The Opening Ceremony for the conference took place on Monday, February 23, 2009at Main Medical Lecture Theatre, located at the University Hospital of the West Indies. The Scientific sessions will be held at Jamaica Grande Hotel on February 27-28. The workshops which are being held across the island involve: the Bustamante Children’s Hospital, Mona Rehabilitation Centre, Mandeville Hospital, Cornwall Regional Hospital, Kingston Public Hospital and the University of the West Indies. The Organization for Strategic Development in Jamaica (OSDJ) has pioneered the increased collaboration with overseas partners, which has led to this year’s conference starting earlier than usual.
