FINPYME: Diagnostic Tool for Small and Medium Size Enterprises Launched in Jamaica

The Mona School of Business, UWI, Mona and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), a member of the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) launched the FINPYME Programme on Monday, March 2, 2009. 

The launch was designed to introduce the FINPYME Diagnostic Tool, an innovative method which evaluates small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) with a view to determine the factors which positively or negatively impact the SMEs and assist them to improve their competitiveness and facilitates access to potential sources of funding.

The launch featured keynote speakers including: Honourable Audley Shaw, Minister of Finance and the Public Service and Governor of IDB, Professor Gordon Shirley, Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal, UWI, Mona and Gerard Johnson, IDB Representative in Jamaica.

FINPYME is also being launched in four other Caribbean territories namely: The Bahamas, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Belize. This programme represents the IIC’s commitment to provide value-added services to private-sector organizations in the region. The FINPYME program in the Caribbean is free of charge to participating companies given the financial support of two key IIC donor countries: the Republic of Korea, and Austria.
