First GPS Navigation to be Launched in Jamaica by MonaGIS
The Mona GeoInformatics Institute (MonaGIS) will launch Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation, the first of its kind in Jamaica, on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Senior Common Room (SCR), UWI, Mona. The launch will see the roll out of the innovative GPS Navigation which features 69 categories including: police stations, attractions, banks, post offices, gas stations and restaurants and 10, 000 Jamaican roadways.
The GPS Navigation is engineered by Mona GeoInformatics, a subsidiary of UWI, Mona specializing in providing technical and analytical information technology services to UWI, the private and public sector.
