“The Global Fight against Smoking Terrors”

The Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH) at UWI, Mona under the auspice of the Jamaica Medical Students Association (JAMSA) has organized an anti smoking campaign dubbed, “Fumes of Mass Destruction: The Global Fight against Smoking Terrors” at UWI, Mona from March 9-13, 2009. The Campaign aims to increase awareness of the implications of smoking of tobacco and marijuana and promote a stance against smoking among the UWI community.

The Week of activities includes: booth presentations at the Sir Alister McIntyre Building, a panel discussion at the Inter-Faculty Lecture Theatre on Thursday, March 12 at 1:15 pm where students can share their views on marijuana smoking and be provided with information. The Week closes with a “Smoke Free Party” at the Students’ Union on Friday, March 13.
