Lincoln Scholar to Deliver Public Lecture at UWI, Mona
On the heels of the just commemorated Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial, the Lincoln scholar and author Professor Michael Burlingame will deliver a public lecture titled, “The Life of Abraham Lincoln and the Lincoln-Obama Connection” on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 1 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre ((N1), UWI, Mona. Dr. Matthew Smith, Lecturer, Department of History and Archaeology will also speak on this occasion.
Burlingame is a Professor of History Emeritus at Connecticut College and a critically acclaimed writer who has devoted his scholarly energies to investigating the life and times of the United State’s sixteenth president, about whom he has published twelve books. His latest biography of Lincoln has been called “the essential title for the Bicentennial” by Publishers Weekly. He has also been referred to as, “the reigning king of Lincoln scholarship.”
The public is invited and admission is free.
