UWI Hosts CAPE History Lecture Series

The Department of History and Archeology at UWI, Mona hosts Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) Lecture Series for History Unit One and Unit Two starting at 10 am daily on April 25, 2009 and May 2, 2009 respectively.
In Unit One the Lecture Series will address the following topics: “The 1831 Slave Rebellion (Sam Sharpe Rebellion), “Spanish Settlements in the Caribbean up to 1600”, “Caribbean Integration Movement” and “Abolition and Emancipation.” The topics to be covered in Unit Two include: “World War I: Russian Revolution Nazism’, “Venezuela,” “The Impact of the Slave Trade” and “Ghandi and Indian Nationalism.”
The Lecture Series is designed to provide additional academic support and facilitate further understanding of specific topics for secondary school students sitting CAPE Caribbean History. The Series is the Department’s major outreach activity and is held annually.
Secondary school students primarily from the Corporate Area have been invited to take part in these lecture series which are at no cost.
