“Reggae Music as Cultural Bridge between Two Worlds”

The Department of Literatures in English, in association with the Institute of Caribbean Studies has organized a public lecture entitled "It a go Dread Inna Switzerland: Reggae Music as Cultural Bridge between Two Worlds". The lecture takes place on Friday, October 16, 2009 in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1) at 3 pm. Swiss journalist and music historian, Marc Ismail's will deliver the lecture. The lecture is the inaugural seminar presentation for the 2009 -2010 academic year in the Department's Staff / Postgraduate Student Seminar Series.
Marc Ismail is a Swiss historian, journalist and independent music producer with a lifelong passion for Jamaican culture and music. He spent two years studying the development of Reggae music in Switzerland for his graduate degree in contemporary history at Fribourg University.
