UWI, Mona Launches Physics Field Trip for CSEC Students

The Department of Physics, UWI, Mona launched the Fifth Form Field Trip for CSEC Physics students on January 18, 2010 at 9 am. The Field Trip is a series of two-hour sessions designed to give fifth form Physics students an opportunity to experience Physics in a fun-filled environment by using lively and interactive demonstrations, computer simulations and hands on experiments related to their syllabus. Topics covered during the Field Trip include: “Reflection and Refraction” and “Gravitational Force”.
The Field Trip took place from January 18-20, 2010 in the Department of Physics, UWI, Mona. More than six hundred CSEC students from fourteen schools in the Corporate Area and rural communities attended the sessions over the three days.
In October 2006, the Department of Physics initiated its outreach activity as a way of responding to the need for additional and appropriate equipment and expertise in teaching Physics in high schools and as a way to promote the mantra: “Physics is fun.”
