UWI, Mona Launches Roundtable on Risk Management

The Mona School of Business (MSB), in collaboration with the UWI Mathematics Department and the Caribbean Actuarial Association launched a forum dubbed, ‘MSB Roundtable 2010’ recently. The Roundtable is designed to encourage dialogue to assist organizations in the public and private sectors in managing risk for growth and development especially in light of  current global economic uncertainties.  The MSB Roundtable 2010 is scheduled to take place March 4-5, 2010 at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre.

“The Roundtable is, in many ways, fulfilling the wish of what we would like to see the University of the West Indies being about,” said UWI Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Nigel Harris as he highlighted the University’s drive to bring real value to the Caribbean community through a marriage between academics and practitioners aimed at creating an understanding of the main challenges within society and using knowledge to make a difference.

The key presenters for MSB Roundtable 2010 to be held in March will be experts from Imperial College, London Business School namely: Professor William Perraudin, who has served as a Special Advisor to the Bank of England and Dr. Paolo Zaffaroni, a former senior economist of the Bank of Italy. The two-day Round Table will directly address many of the economic issues facing the country and its major financial institutions. It will cover numerous topics including diversification, capital adequacy, types of risk, risk models and model benchmarking. Participants are expected to gain invaluable insights and workable strategies to anticipate and cope with the uncertainties prevailing worldwide.

Interested persons are invited to register at a cost of US$550 for individuals and US$500 per person for groups of three and more.
