Arbitration Workshop Hosted at UWI, Mona

The Faculty of Law at UWI, Mona will host a second seminar as part of its Mona Law Series entitled, “Modernizing the Framework for Arbitration in Jamaica.” The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 10 am at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre. Attorney General and Minister of Justice, the Honourable Dorothy Lightbourne will speak on the occasion.
The workshop is intended to bring to the fore the need for modernization to the Jamaican arbitration regime. It will also seek to assist in the formulation of a concrete plan of action for a modern Arbitration Law.
The event features panelist including: Maurice Stoppi, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrator and one of the leading Caribbean construction arbitration practitioners, Dennis Morrison, Judge of the Court of Appeals, Albert Edwards, Chief Parliamentary Counsel in Jamaica, Emilia Onyema, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Lecturer, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and Christopher Malcolm, Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Lecturer, Faculty of Law at Mona.
