The University of the West Indies, Mona will launch the expansion phase of the Plastic Bottle Separation and Recovery for Recycling Project on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10 am at the Undercroft. The Project dubbed, “UWI Environmental Outreach Plastic Bottle Recycling Project” will see the participation of at least ten (10) schools in the Mona and Papine areas.

The Project is designed to develop an institutional culture of plastic bottle and container recovery in the recycling schools. It will see the involvement of residing students and commuting students from Environmental Clubs at UWI, Mona partnering with select schools to foster the culture of recycling. The Project is funded by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica.
