Literacy Symposium 2010

“Making the Literacy Improvement a Reality for Adolescents and At-Risk Youths” is the theme of this year’s Literacy Symposium hosted by the School of Education, UWI, Mona. The Symposium takes place on March 11-12, 2010 at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre starting at 9 am daily.
The keynote speakers include: Dr. Patricia Saul, Deputy Principal, Erdiston Teachers’ Training College and Immediate Past President, Barbados Association of Reading and Dr. Constance Weaver, Heckert Professor of Reading and Writing, Miami University, Ohio. The Symposium will involve workshops and panel presentations on topics including: Literacy and Social Justice, Best Practice in Assessment, Recovering At Risk Youth and Literacy Across the Curriculum.
The registration fee is US $100 for two days, daily rate is US $55 and for UWI students with ID the fee is US $50 (two days) and US $30 (daily rate).
