Congratulations to Dr. Denise Eldemire-Shearer, Senior Lecturer in The Department of Community Health and Psychiatry, who was presented with the Distinguished Mentorship Award by the Behavioural and Social Sciences Section of the Gerontological Society of America. The presentation was made to her at the Fifty Fifth meeting of the Gerontological Society in Boston, USA. In a citation read by Chloe Morris at the Meeting, it was noted that “Since 1982 she has championed the cause of the older person in Jamaica and the Caribbean.  She lectures both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels looking at ageing issues.  Her work has extended to the development of a Training Manual for Epidemiology and Aged Care”.
