Rex Nettleford Symposium -"The Sage Has Come of Age"

“The Sage Has Come of Age”, is the title of the symposium being held in honour of the late Professor Emeritus, Professor Rex Nettleford on April 7-9, 2010 at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre, UWI, Mona. The symposium will discuss Professor Nettleford’s vision on the edification of workers and share ideas for crafting strategies to help Jamaican and Caribbean workers’ move forward to achieve sustainable competitive advantages in their countries and the region.

The symposium will begin with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, April 7 at 6 p.m. where Professor Emeritus George Eaton will be the guest speaker. Other invited speakers at the Symposium include Professor Tony Bogues, Brown University; Professor Rupert Lewis, UWI, Mona; Mrs. Judith Wedderburn, Social Worker and Activist; Dr. Jahlani Niaah, Cultural Studies Lecturer, UWI, Mona, Mr. Lloyd Goodleigh, President, Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions and Drs. Judith Soares and Adrian Fraser, Heads, Open Campus, UWI. The event is organized by the Hugh Lawson Shearer Trade Union Education Institute, Open Campus, UWI and UWI, Mona Campus.
