“Inside South Africa”

The Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work hosts the second documentary in the Jamaica Rastafari Film Series entitled “Inside South Africa”. The documentary highlights the turmoil and violence of Apartheid South Africa through the Rastafarian Lenses. The film screening takes place on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 6 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona.
“Inside South Africa” summarizes the growth and development of institutional White racism by the separatist Afrikaaner political party. Beginning with the 1976 uprising of Black school children in Soweto, the video graphically illustrates the harsh story of day-to-day life inside apartheid South Africa and highlights the political and social liberation struggles of the Black South African people. The documentary is narrated, edited and produced by I. Jabulani Tafari.
The Series is in celebration of eighty years of the Rastafarian Movement and fifty years since the Rastafari Report by the University.
The university community and the public are invited to attend. For more information interested persons are invited to telephone 977-0315.
