Inaugural Professorial Lecture - “The Other Side of the Pancake”

“The Other Side of the Pancake: Reading and Reasoning in a Postmodern Mode” is the title of the inaugural professorial lecture to be delivered by Dr. Claudette Williams, Professor of Hispanic Caribbean Literature, UWI, Mona. The lecture is scheduled for Friday, April 23, 2010 at 5 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona.
In this lecture Professor Williams will demonstrate how postmodern thinking may be applied to a variety of contexts ranging from literary interpretation to the experience of slavery, and from popular culture to the Tiger Woods affair. Her presentation will also highlight the usefulness of the postmodern worldview for critiquing the politics of Afro-centric identity and the assumptions of belief systems such as feminism.
All are invited to attend.
