“The Lion of Judah”-Film Screening

“The Lion of Judah” is the third film being showed in the Jamaican Rastafari Film Series organized by the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work, UWI, Mona. The film takes place on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 8 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona. The film represents the official account of Haile Selassie's visit to Jamaica 1966.

The documentary, "Inside South Africa" will be rescreened following the “Lion of Judah” should time allow. This film summarizes the growth and development of institutional White racism by the separatist Afrikaaner political party. Beginning with the 1976 uprising of Black school children in Soweto, the video graphically illustrates the harsh story of day-to-day life inside apartheid South Africa and highlights the political and social liberation struggles of the Black South African people.

The university community and the public are invited to attend. For more information interested persons are invited to telephone 977-0315.
