3rd Americas Regional Conference

“Integrating Evidence-based Practice into Quality Health Care” is the theme of the third Americas Regional Conference being hosted by the UWI School of Nursing, the Jamaica Midwives Association and the International Confederation of Midwives. The Conference takes place on May 26-28, 2010. The event commences with an Opening and Welcome Reception on May 26, 2010 at 5:30 pm at the UWISON Courtyard.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Bridgette Lynch, President, International Confederation of Midwives, Toronto Canada on May 27 at 9 am. The Conference continues with the Mary J. Seivwright Lecture which will be delivered by Dr. Joyce Thompson, Lacey Professor of Community Health Nursing at Western Michigan University Bronson School of Nursing and Technical Expert and Co-chairwoman of the ICM Task Force to establish Global Standards for Midwifery Education. Other speakers at the Conference include: Dr. Hermi Hewitt, Head and Director, The UWI School of Nursing, Mona and Mrs. Carmen Walker-Sutherland, President, Jamaica Midwives Association (JMA). During the plenary sessions, workshops and through the poster presentations several topics will be addressed including: Leadership, Nutritional Practices, Health Care Delivery, Health Promotion and Youth Related Issues.
