MSB Hosts Information Resources Management Conference

The Mona School of Business at UWI will be host the 2010 International Conference on Information Resources Management (Conf-IRM), an affiliated conference of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), from May 16 – 18 in Rosehall, Montego Bay. This is the first time that this conference will be held in the Latin America and Caribbean region.   The Conference is being held under the theme "Collaboration and Community in a Global World."

The keynote address on Monday, May 17 will be delivered by Dr. Yolande Chan, Professor and E. Marie Shantz Fellow of Management Information Systems and Director of the Monieson Centre, Queens University, Canada. In addition the keynote address on Tuesday, May 18 will be made by Mr. Wendell Smith, Assistant General Manager, Operations and Management Information Systems, Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS). Over the three day conference there will be several presentations and panel discussions by local and international experts including UWI academics such as: Professor Evan Duggan, Dr. Maurice McNaughton and Dr. Ezra Mugisa. Topics being explored in the Conference include: ICT in Government, Education and Health, ICT and Small and Medium – size Enterprises (SMEs), Collaboration and Social Networking and Information Security, Privacy and Risk Management.

The conference is aimed at facilitating discussion among participants in information systems and information management researchers and practitioners from across the globe who are interested in the effective deployment and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to advance the development objectives of both organizations and society.
