CSME Essay/ Debating Prize Giving Ceremony

Three UWI, Mona students were named the awardees of the CSME Awareness Week Essay and Debate Competition organized by the UWI Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (UWISTAT) at a recently held prize–giving ceremony at UWI, Mona. Shiva Mohan, postgraduate student in the Department of Geography and Geology copped the prestigious Vice Chancellor CSME Trophy in the Essay Competition. The CSME Debate Competition prize was shared by Krystal Tomlinson and Dexroy Martin both of Taylor Hall The Essay Competition is open to all UWI, Mona students while the Debating Competition is an inter hall competition.
In her remarks, Ms. Allison Fung, commended the UWISTAT ambassadors for demonstrating an interest in regionalism and regional issues especially as members of a regional university community and as part of a cadre who will form future policy leaders of the Caribbean joining many other UWI alumni.
The CSME Awareness Week is observed on March 1-5 and is part of the Ambassadors’ mission of contributing to youth leadership and regional integration. The Competition which was executed under the theme, “Education in the Caribbean-Embracing the Future, CSME and Caribbean Regional Integration” is designed to raise awareness of the opportunities that exist from the CSME.
