Going Forward to our Rootz

The Department of Literatures in English and the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work at UWI, Mona will host a Symposium entitled, “Going Forward to our Rootz: Reclaiming the Healing Power of Reggae Music”. The Symposium takes place on Thursday, July 1, 2010 6 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona.
The speakers will include academics from UWI, Mona namely: Professor Carolyn Cooper, Dr. Clinton Hutton, Dr. Michael Barnett, radio personality, Mutabaruka and Ras Java Immanuel. The Symposium will explore the healing, calming and restorative power of vintage and classical era Reggae Music for a troubled society.
The university community and the public are invited.
