The  UWI Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (UWISTAT at  Mona hosts a celebrity cricket match on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Sir Frank Worrell cricket pitch at Mona Bowl dubbed, “Triple P 20/20”. The Match seeks to encourage camaraderie and build loyalty among UWI staff and alumni.  The event is endorsed by former West Indies cricketer, the Hon. Courtney Walsh, also an alumnus of the UWI, who will head the alumni team in a friendly match slated to start at 2 pm. The match is expected to raise funds for the UWI Mona Regional Endowment Fund, and the student project ‘FOOTPRINTS’.

The celebrity cricket match also features giveaways, entertainment, the sports mascot; Pete the Pelican, an Inter Hall Cheerleading competition and other fun-filled activities starting at 12 noon. The University community is especially invited to participate in this event. The public is also encouraged to attend.

In support of the event, the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel is offering discounted accommodation from October 1 – 3 for persons attending the Match. Bookings must be made by September 10, 2010 in order to benefit from the package.
