CARIMAC Students Partner to Promote Road Safety

The Public Relations Class of 2011 at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at UWI, Mona has partnered with major private and public sector organizations to promote road safety among UWI, Mona students through a campaign. The highlight of this Initiative will the staging of an expo dubbed, “Wreckage”: Driving for “U” and WI” on November 18, 2010 at 3 pm at the Students’ Union, UWI, Mona.

The Campaign which was launched on October 27 is designed to sensitize the UWI community to issues related to road safety and reduce road accidents and fatalities. The Expo will feature a number of performances by Jamaica’s top recording artistes who have endorsed “Driving for U and WI” message. The event will also serve as a springboard for the establishment of “The Sober Zone”, a special non-alcoholic section of the University’s weekly party “Integration Thursdays.”

Partners in this Road Safety campaign include: the Jamaica Road Safety Unit of the Ministry of Transport and Works, Supreme Ventures Limited, Scotia Jamaica Life Insurance Limited and Grennell’s Driving School.
