CARIMAC students bring “Mental Health Campaign” to Mona Campus

A group of final year students at the Caribbean Institute of Media & Communication (CARIMAC) and the University Health Centre at UWI, Mona host a one week “Mental Health” campaign, dubbed, “Brain Power and Mental Wellness – A Thin Line between Mental Illness and Abnormal Behaviour”. The campaign begins with an official launch on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 3 pm at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona.

The one-week campaign will include a series of activities such as interactive sessions with students and a special Social Drama event on April 14, 2011 at 1 pm on the CARIMAC lawns.

The campaign is aimed at stimulating interests in mental health issues and increase awareness about this crucial issue among the student population at UWI, Mona campus. It is hoped that through this Campaign there will better recognition of behaviours often considered normal and mental disorders with a view of reducing these conditions and encouraging individuals to use coping mechanisms to help preserve mental wellness among students on the Mona campus.  The campaign is been endorsed by the Ministry of Health.
