The Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at the UWI, Mona –Western Jamaica Campus will host an inaugural public lecture entitled, New Media and Social and Economic Change: From Possibilities to Practices. The Lecture will be delivered by Professor Stephen McDowell, John H. Phipps Professor of Communication and Dean of the School of Communication, Florida State University, USA. The event takes place on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 6 pm at Seminar Room 21, UWI, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus.

The lecture will examine media and communication as critical elements in the development of our country and region and the ways in which the convergence of new media technologies has influenced both the practice of communication and the management of knowledge and information. 

The university community and the public are invited.
