Reception in Honour of the Haitian Students

The Mona Campus as part of The University of the West Indies (UWI) / Haiti Initiative has been playing a significant role in the rebuilding of Higher Education in Haiti. Currently, some twenty-five students of the State University of Haiti are completing the final year of their degree programme at the Mona Campus. The students were granted full scholarships for one year of study after a rigorous process of selection. They took classes in the Faculties of Social Sciences, Pure and Applied Sciences and Humanities and Education. The Haitian students have completed course work already begun in Haiti but interrupted by the devastating earthquake. The students will be returning to Haiti shortly where they will be awarded a degree from the State University of Haiti.
A Reception in honour of the Haitian students will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge & Conference Centre, Mona Campus.
