The Hon. Portia Simpson Closes SALISES Prime Ministerial Reflections Fifty –Fifty Series

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), UWI Mona, announces the continuation of the Prime Ministerial Reflections Fifty- Fifty. The final reflection in the series will be delivered by former Prime Minister the Most Honourable Portia Simpson-Miller on Wednesday, June 15 at 5:00 p.m. at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

The Prime Ministerial Reflection Series is a major component of the SALISES Fifty- Fifty Project: Critical Reflections in a Time of Uncertainty: An Appraisal of the First Fifty Years of Independence and Prospective for the next Fifty Years in the Commonwealth Caribbean. In the Prime Ministerial Reflections Fifty- Fifty series, each of Jamaica's living former Prime Ministers  have been invited to present their views on the period since independence as well as their vision of the decades ahead, taking into account constraints and opportunities derived from Jamaica's modern history and location in the regional hemispheric and international community.

The Project through a series of conferences, seminars and presentations aims to review fifty years of Caribbean independence experience and to project forward to the next fifty years.

The university community is invited to attend. For more details interested persons may contact SALISES at 927-1234.
