UWI, Mona Hosts Peter Tosh Symposium

The Peter Tosh Symposium is organized by the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work and the National Heritage Month Committee at UWI, Mona as part of the activities to highlight National Heroes Day and showcase the contribution of notable individuals in the Jamaican society. In keeping with this the event is themed, “Peter Tosh: Activist, protagonist and Musical Genius: One of Jamaica’s Unsung Heroes.” The Symposium takes place on Peter Tosh’s ‘Earthday’, Wednesday, October 19 at 6 pm at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona.  The panelists on the occasion will include Dr. Omar Davis, Dr. Clinton Hutton and Copeland Forbes.
 
Other events scheduled as part of the Celebrations include, the Walter Rodney Lecture on Thursday, October 20 pm, the Jamaican premiere of the documentary on Leonard Howell, “The First Rasta” on Friday, October 21 and a second National Heritage Month Lecture on Friday October 28. All the events take place at 6 pm at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona.
