Leonard Howell Documentary Showing: The First Rasta

The Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work, UWI, Mona will join in this year’s National Heritage celebrations in collaboration with the UWI National Heritage Month Committee, the UWI Rastafari Studies Initiative, and the Leonard Howell Foundation. The celebration will take the form of the Jamaican Premiere of the Leonard Howell Documentary; First Rasta- A Focus on the Contribution of the Rastafari Patriach, Leonard Howell, to the Rastafari Movement. 
 
This premiere is set to take place on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 6pm in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona Campus and will be followed by a panel discussion.  The panelists include: Miguel Lorne, Dr. Clinton Hutton (UWI, Mona), Monty Howell, Louis Moyston, Dr. Jahlani Niaah (UWI, Mona), Dr. Michael Barnett (UWI, Mona), Davie Dunkley and representatives from the Jamaica National Heritage Trust.
 
The university community and the public are invited to attend.
