Professor Brian Meeks, Director of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute for Social and Economic Studies, UWI, Mona, and Professor Verene Shepherd, University Director of the Institute for Gender and Development Studies are among the featured authors at the Miami Book Fair. The event which takes place in South Florida from November 19 to 20, 2011 will see more than 350 authors reading and discussing their work. Both prolific authors, Professors Shepherd and Meeks have published widely on Caribbean History and Gender and Caribbean Political Thought respectively. The UWI Professors will be two of the guests on the panel Caribbean Voices: Post-Colonial Themes on November 19 during the Street Fair.
 
 
It is anticipated that thousands of South Florida schoolchildren will be present to hear authors and participate in a range of activities. The Miami Book Fair International, founded by Miami Dade College and community partners has been regarded as the nation’s finest literary festival.
