UWI , Mona Hosts Seminar to Explore Why Do We Run So Fast?

 “Why do people of African descent in the Caribbean run so fast? Explanations from Gender Analysis, History and Medicine” is the title of the seminar presentation to be delivered by Dr. William Aiken, Lecturer in Surgery (Urology), UWI Mona & Consultant Urologist. The seminar is set for Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 3 pm at the Council Room (Senate Building), at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
 
 The Seminar will explore the medical and historical links between enhanced testosterone responsiveness in descendants of enslaved Africans surviving the transatlantic trade in Africans and sprinting prowess. The event is organized by The Institute for Gender and Development Studies, Regional Coordinating Unit.
