50 Participants Partake in Child Rights Course at UWI, Mona

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (Mona) in collaboration with the Child Development Agency (CDA) and the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) hosted a Child Rights Course recently for approximately 50 persons from the private, public and non-governmental organizations in Jamaica. Financial and technical support were provided by the Inter-American Children‘s Institute.
The main objectives of the course were to: strengthen the participants’ capacity to improve the design and implementation of child-centered policies; promote the wide use of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Jamaica Child Care and Protection Act and improve the capacity of public sector workers to monitor and evaluate child-centered policies.
The participants prepared action plans for the improvement in the adherence of Child Rights which they have committed to implemented in their respective agencies.
