Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts International Festival Features Son et Lumière Performance

Phillip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts

The annual Philip Sherlock Lecture entitled, ‘A Light Rising from the West’ will be presented as a Son et Lumière performance as part of the Philip Sherlock International Festival slated for February 23 to March 4. The event takes place on Monday, February 27 at 7:30 pm on the front of the Main Portico of the University Chapel. The performance feature contributions from: The University Singers, UWI Chorale, UWI Pop Society, UWI Panoridim Steel Orchestra, University Dance Society, University Dramatic Arts Society and the UWI Camera Club. 

The Son et Lumière is devised and directed by Brian Heap, Head of the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts and will be presented in recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the 1962 Charter Constituting and Founding the University of the West Indies.

All are invited to attend the event. For more information interested persons may telephone the Centre at 927-1047. Admission is Free.

The International Festival begins with Nneka on February 23 at 1 pm on the Lawns of the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts (PSCCA) as part of Black History Month celebrations. The event features the UWI Pop Society, Open Mic, Black as Cole (Band) and Friends and traditional dishes on sale. Also taking place is KUUMBA, a showcase of art and culinary display featuring local artists with products for sale on February 23-24, 2012 starting at 10 am daily. The Festival closes with Dance Umbrella on March 1-4. All are invited to attend these events.
